I agree, i was just saying to my friend a few days ago that a 767 was too big for them. its such a shame that silverjet went, i suppose if they didnt go from luton also, and they went from STN maybe they would have turned a profit.

Sad about Silverjet. I helped start an Asian airline a few years ago. It lasted only 6 years. Why? The company expanded too quickly with too many planes. Management did not understand the tremendous costs involved in the airline industry, particularly in technical service and maintenance. We bought new planes from Douglas. I believe Silverjet should have used the B-757 instead of 767. They might have survived due to the operational cost difference. We all learn from our mistakes.

What about A380s?

The Silverjet web site isn't showing any information about restarting services. If they are wise they will quit now. Fuel surcharges are so high now that they will only last another month or two.

They should re-start operations within the next few days, they got some boost from a swiss company. |
